It's raining it's pouring...
09.26.07 (12:02 pm)   [edit]
After a couple months of very little rain, we're making up for lost time. It is absolutely pouring right now.

My poor little dog is soaked to the bone, from trying to take a potty break outside. What do you do with an indoor dog on days like this?

In other news...there's no news :)

Have a GREAT DAY!

R.I.P. GMan

I've been a member of a particular MS message board for about 7 years now. There was a man from Canada who was also a member and a very strong presence on the board. His MS was very aggressive, in the 7 plus years that I knew him, he was bedridden. No matter how tough things were for him, he always had a positive thought and a great sense of humor.

I found out this morning that he passed away earlier this month.

I'm caught between being happy for him that he's been released from the prison cell that was his body and being sad.

If anyone handled MS with finesse it was GMan.

An email from my daughter
09.21.07 (7:05 am)   [edit]
My youngest daughter is visiting NY for the first time. I woke up to this email from her this morning.

Ahh! I LOVE this place! We are staying on 87th between Broadway and Amsterdam, that's right, not even half block of broadway. This area is bustling, people everywhere, we walked for about four hours tonight and, no exaggeration, probably passed about 250 resto.s and 600 storefronts. Ate at Cafe Con Leche on the sidewalk and had the most AMAZING paella and....ahem...assertive sangria. We are only three blocks west of Central Park and it seems to be even more amazing than I thought. We then hoofed it all the way down to 60th street where we stumbled upon Trump International Tower in this amazing intersection with a giant fountain and literally hundreds of people of all ethnicities. The architecture is amaing! I saw the most BEAUTIFUL church and am going to try to catch the service on Sunday. It is a Universalist Unitarian church. Sorry if my grammar is poor but I have never felt so invigorated by a place in my entire life. You have GOT to come here. Tommorrow we are going to the Museum of Natural History which we walked by tonight. It is where Night at The Museum was filmed. We may hit the guggenheim, but it depends on how long we are at the first museum. I havent really taken any photos yet as I was just too enthralled but I will tommorrow. I am thinking about going back out to Amsterdam as things seem to be picking up even more and I want to be a part of it. LOVE YOU

Details, details, details!
09.13.07 (8:20 pm)   [edit]
It seems the list of things that I have to do and buy for my daughter's wedding is never ending. Truly it could be never ending if I didn't just draw the line somewhere.

It puts me in the mind of Christmas. No matter how early I start, I'm never finished until the day comes and goes. I always see just one more thing that someone will like.

Tonight I wittled the list down to only an isle runner...I think? Hubby and I went out and bought a chocolate fountain, plates for the cake and cups for the punch, napkins, balloons and balloon weights. I received 3 boxes via Fed Ex today full of topiaries for the tables.

You should see my dining room! Which we now refer to as the wedding room. No kidding, it is stacked all along 2 walls with boxes full of wedding "stuff" and I haven't seen my dining room table since before July.

My dress is pressed and ready to be picked up from the dress shop. I got my shoes today. Hubby's suit is hanging in the closet ready to go. Now if I can just find a dog sitter for the day and pick up that isle runner, we'll be ready to go! I really think Peanut should be invited but, Ash doesn't agree with me :(

I've confirmed with the cake lady, the caterer, photographer, the minister and the invitations have been mailed. We received the first RSVP today.

We've already made a trip the reception site and measured everything.

I'm starting to get past being anxious and I'm down to being excited! :) I can't wait to do the chicken dance *wink* . . . . . . Uh, I almost forgot...we need ingredients for punch. Cups wouldn't do us much good without that now, would it? Oh crap, and drinks for dinner! ARGH! See, it's never ending. Maybe nobody will be thirsty and we do have beer and champagne coming, so that should be good enough..ya think?

1 month and counting!

Happy Labor Day and A New Friend!
09.03.07 (7:19 am)   [edit]

Happy Labor Day! Smile

Guess what? I got my puppy! Well, he's not a puppy. We think he's about a year and half or two years old. A little Yorkshire Terrior! Quite the little man he is. He weighs a whopping 4.5 lbs!
He's very well behaved and house broken already.

His story goes something like this. A farmer was tending his crops down in the river bottoms when this poor little guy comes walking out of a corn field. His hair was matted and full of those coccoburrs (sp?) Eaten up with fleas and flea bites. The farmer took him home and put out the word that he had found this little guy and kept him for 2 weeks. Nobody came to claim him, so my daughter, Ashleigh told the farmer that I had wanted a Yorkie and now the rest will be history!

He has scabs and sores from his adventures in the river bottoms. The farmer and his wife had to cut his hair to get all the matted hair and coccoburrs out, so he looks a little scraggly right now but, he is just a sweetheart!

Hubby calls him Frumpkin ('cause we don't know where he come from) and son calls him Peanut. We all love him.
He's smart and minds like a little soldier.

I was concerned about the time, expense and dedication it would take from me to care for this little guy but, I'm hooked and he seems right at home.

If I can get a good picture of him, I'll have to show him off later. He seems to be a little camera shy.

Blow Out
09.02.07 (4:41 pm)   [edit]

Yesterday when I was coming home from my daughter's bridal shower, my front passenger's side tire blew!  *POP*  Luckily for me, I had just turned on the road I live on and was going very slow.  Hubby put on the little temp tire and while he was doing that, noticed that the steel belts were showing through on the other front tire and that I had a bulge, knot, bump whatever it's called on one of my back tires. Major bummer.

So now he's off having 4 new tires put on my car.  Something I wasn't planning since the tires aren't that old but, I didn't have them rotated every 5000 miles, so the warranty is null and void.   I've nearly sucked our savings dry paying for the wedding....well, it just sucks.  Oh well, we've been up against a whole heck of a lot worse than this before.  I just hate things happening that aren't budgeted for.  I guess that's true for everyone.

I was just reading jjsmom's blog and see that she has PCOS.  Both my daughter's have PCOS.  My youngest is doing very well with it but, my oldest, not so much.  Bless her heart.  My heart goes out to jjsmom.  After reading her blog, I'm more scared than ever for my girls.  My youngest didn't have too many of the symptoms but, my oldest is a textbook case.   The youngest leads a very healthy life-style and I think that has helped her tremendously but, maybe she's just lucky?

The oldest is anything but healthy, she's the one getting married in Oct.  I wonder if her husband to be even realizes what all the PCOS emcompasses?  I kind of doubt it.   MOODY, man o man is she ever moody!  Even if you know what the cause is, sometimes it's hard to take.

oops, getting a bit off track here.

It's good to be back home at tblog...
